A new trailer, a new set of translations! Business as usual, but I'm posting it here and linking it on plurk for ease of reading.
Masked Man:
[English] "This, I promise you, for we have a power within us, my friends. A power befitting our pride. Our righteousness."
[German] „Wer bereit ist, an meiner Seite zu kämpfen, der erhebe seine Stimme. Die Stärke zum Sieg ist unser. Dafür hab ich gesorgt.“
[German, translated] "Those who are prepared to fight by my side, raise your voice. The strength for victory is ours. I made sure of that."
Papalymo(?):
[English] "Where men go as one, there is life. And where there is life, there is cause to hope."
[German] „Ein Ende ist ein Anfang. Und so muss erst etwas beendet werden, bevor etwas Neues beginnen kann.“
[German, translated] "An end is a beginning. And so something has to end first, before something new can begin."
... thanks for the motivational poster quote, German Papalymo.
Aymeric:
[English] "Power, answered with greater power. Death with more death. A vicious cycle fuelled by fear and hatred."
[German] „Und weiter dreht sich die Spirale der Gewalt. Wie sich die Geschichte wiederholt...“
[German, translated] "The spiral of violence continues to turn. How history repeats itself..."
Alphinaud:
[English] "If there is aught you would say, say it."
[German] „Wer bist du? Gehörst du auch zu denen?“
[German, translated] "Who are you? Are you one of them too?"
Urianger:
[English] "He who holdeth fast unto his convictions shall never count betrayal amongst his crimes, though all the world may call him villain."
[German] „Es wäre grob fahrlässig, Hilfe zu verweigern, zu der wir fähig sind.“
[German, translated] "It would be grossly negligent to deny aid we are capable of giving."
My guess here is that this is another case of the two trailer versions pulling their quotes from different parts of the same conversation. And that's quite an interesting decision if we look at how different the quotes are in tone and content.
Alisae:
[English] "Alphinaud, don't go There is something I must say."
[German] „Ich... ich muss euch etwas Wichtiges sagen.“
[German, translated] "I... I have to tell you something impotant."
The most interesting thing here is that the English Alisae is speaking explicitly to Alphinaud while her German counterpart is addressing a group.
Warrior of Darkness, part 1:
[English] "You know our cause. You know what is at stake. We are prepared to do whatever it takes. Are you?"
[German] „Wenn du dich wirklich nützlich machen willst, dann tritt zurück und lass uns machen, du [...] Blag.“
[German, translated] "If you really want to make yourself useful, then step back and let us do this, you [...] brat."
The adjective missing before Blag/brat is a slur used against intellectually disabled people that I don't want on this blog, so I've left it out. It's my blog, I can do that. :/
Warrior of Darkness, part 2:
[English] "Guide my hand, I pray you, as fate's threads spinneth upon this most capricious spindle"
[German] „Ein Leben für das Los einer Welt. Das war der Tausch.“
[German, translated] "A life, for the fate of a world. That was the exchange."
I'm itching to replace exchange in my translation with deal to make it sound better, but without proper context, I'm leaving it as this perhaps overly literal thing. And at leats that way it sounds as awkward as the German line. Success?
